On Sunday, May 11, riders from Goodells Equestrian Center braved the wind and rain to participate in the dressage show at
Rattle Run Farms in St. Clair, Michigan.
In spite of the weather, everyone had a blast and thoroughly enjoyed the comments given by the judge, Carolyn VanCise.
Carolyn is a judge who correctly identifies the weaknesses in horse and rider and gives help in a positive and encouraging manner.
We salute her for helping us, especially since it was Mother's Day and also her birthday!
Thanks, Carolyn, and we hope we can ride for you again soon!
Nicole Wilkerson, a mom (son Michael was at the show, as well as Nicole's mom!) and nursing student, riding Nevada, a Sweedish Warmblood in Training Level Test 3 and 4. Nicole won both of her classes. She will be taking lessons with Barb Sudomier (see below) and has her sights set on First Level!
Sandi Zarzycki, on Cee Melody Step, or "Damian" as we know him, riding Training Level Test 1 and 2.
(Damian says he wants to do T3 and 4 next time.)
Sandi is a former reiner and is doing well with Damian who is one of her reining horses.
Avery Nelson riding Gracie in Anything Goes Freestyle. Avery rode to the song "Paralyzed" and won the blue ribbon.
Avery also rode in Training Level Test 3, Junior division and received a blue ribbon in that class.
Charlotte Godfrey, part owner of
Goodells Equestrian Center,
riding Gotsno, a German Warmblood, at the left and Kajun, a Dutch Warmblood, at the right. Both horses rode in First Level Test 1. Gotsno scored a 60% and 2nd place and Kajun scored a 57% and 4th place. Kajun vows not to let Gotsno beat him again, but Gotsno has other plans!

Pictured directly below is Barb Sudomier, of Bay Mare Farm, riding Marika in Test of Choice: Prix St. Georges. Barb was the original owner of Goodells Equestrian Center (formerly named Bay Mare Farm), and, after watching us ride at the show, agreed to once again come to our farm on Tuesday afternoons and give lessons.
She is riding Jazz, a novice horse in the picture at the right.

If you are interested in lessons with Barb at Goodells Equestrian Center,
please call 586-615-8960.
